General Department of Vietnam Customs deploys synchronous measures to prevent corona virus

In the directive, the Minister of Finance requested the General Department of Vietnam Customs urgently implement six assigned tasks.
In particular, directing local customs departments to strengthen control and supervision at border gates, trails and paths of border areas for people and means of transport originating from countries facing the epidemic.
Carrying out the tasks, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has sent dispatches to local customs departments to implement the Government's Directive and Minister of Finance on strengthening the prevention and control of corona virus.
In the above official dispatches, the General Department of Vietnam Customs grasped the customs officials and employees to implement the contents under the Prime Minister's directives and Directive No. 01/CT-BTC dated January 28, 2020 of the Minister of Finance.
Additionally, the General Department of Vietnam Customs directed units to purchase and equip customs officials and employees which perform tasks in contact with passengers, means of transport, goods and luggage of passengers on exit and entry; customs officials who perfomed task of patrol and control at border areas should be equipped with necessary vehicles and equipment for disease prevention and control.
Besides implementing preventive measures as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requested customs officials wear masks and gloves which met standards of disease prevention as recommended by the Ministry of Health when carrying out the physical inspection of goods and luggage and means of transport.
At the same time, isolation areas shall be arranged at places of cargo inspection to conduct physical inspection of goods that are live animals or processed food from animals imported from China; implementing disinfection and personal hygiene after completing work.
Along with that, the General Department of Vietnam Customs would continue to monitor developments, situation and notices of the authorities of bordering countries on the implementation of disease prevention and control measures that affect exit and entry of passengers and means of transport activities; export and import goods with Vietnam, promptly give solutions to ensure prevention and control of epidemics.
